How to test your ping

To test your ping, measure the round-trip time for a small request to reach a server and come back. Under 50 ms is excellent, 50โ€“100 ms is fine, and over 150 ms will feel laggy.

What the result means

Ping (latency) is the round-trip time in milliseconds for data to reach a server and return. Under 50 ms is excellent, 50โ€“100 ms is good, 100โ€“150 ms is noticeable, and above 150 ms feels laggy in real-time apps.

If the number is stable and low, your connection is responsive. Large swings between readings (jitter) are often worse than a slightly higher average, and usually point to Wi-Fi interference or a congested line.
