Asia-Pacific Cable Congestion
No widespread internet outage is under way this morning (checked around 10:50 UTC). The main open issue is regional: subsea cable damage in Asia-Pacific is still limiting capacity. There is also a smaller Cloudflare Durable Objects incident, which is recovering.
**Asia-Pacific: subsea cable faults (ongoing, day 5)**
Cloudflare reports that since September 21 at 02:20 UTC, multiple subsea cable outages have caused congestion between its Tokyo and Singapore data centers. It has rerouted traffic, and its latest update (08:50 UTC today) says a small subset of customers still sees intermittent connectivity degradation while it works with vendors to restore capacity ([Cloudflare Status](cloudflarestatus.com)). Akamai has a related open incident for increased latency in Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan during upstream provider maintenance, plus origin connectivity errors in APAC that it is monitoring ([Akamai Status](akamaistatus.com)). This adds to an already strained region: the Australia–Singapore Cable has been cut in Indonesian waters since September 4, which has pushed some Australia–Asia traffic onto much longer routes ([Light Reading](lightreading.com)). Users in the region may see slower page loads and higher latency, not outright outages.
**Cloudflare Durable Objects (monitoring)**
Cloudflare saw elevated errors for Durable Objects starting around 00:00 UTC. A fix went out, errors came back at about 02:30 UTC, and a second fix was deployed at 08:49 UTC. The incident is now in monitoring. Apps built on Workers that use Durable Objects may have returned errors overnight. Cloudflare also resolved two short incidents early today: delayed Secondary DNS zone transfers (DNS resolution itself was not affected) and a problem editing compression rules.
